I am not a trained nutritionist or a dietitian. I am a fan of Rujuta Diwekar ( A renowned Nutritionist from India). I have lost good amount of weight after following her tips.
I was 98-100 kgs before.. Now fluctuating between 62-63 kgs.
I was depressed, fat and unhealthy 4 yrs back. I use to feel hopeless looking at myself in the mirror. None of the dresses suited me. After my delivery in 2008, I gained weight and reached around 100. I tried a lot of things. Right from crash diets, Kellogg’s fitness challenge diet, GM diet, low carb diet and all that.. nothing worked. After each diet I started eating even more and more. These kind of diets also bring depression, mood swings, high sweet cravings, hair fall, dull skin and hormonal imbalances.
I thought I was eating all healthy as I switched to low fat foods, low fat milk, digestive biscuits for snacks, oats for breakasts. But No! I always felt bloated and my weight was always stuck around 80-81 kgs. It was 1. 5 years back I read Rujuta Diwekar s book and followed the principles of eating.
Me and my husband joined a gym 4 years back. And then it was never looking back. I started with cardio and weight training religiously. I started enjoying exercise.
Now we workout at home.
Let me share what I ate…
Drinking 2. 5 to 3 ltrs of water in a day is important.
I ate all home cooked Indian food in a limited portion. Eating early dinner is a must. I reduced my sugar intake to max 2 teaspoons a day.
I start my day with a fruit. Followed by 20 Surya Namaskar. In Breakfast I usually eat – 2 or 3 idlis with chutney, egg white omelette with 1 roti or a brown bread, 1 small paratha of Lau or radish or Palak or Gobi with dahi, upma, sheera, poha 1 medium-sized bowl ,Puri Bhaji etc.
Midmorning snacks are – 1 cheese cube, handfull of nuts, carrots or cucumber.
Lunch – dal, 1 cup white rice, any sabzi.
Mid afternoon snack- it’s always a cup of dahi.. as I love dahi.
Evening snack at around 5 pm – half brown bread sandwich, upma or dosa with chutney. I avoid eating paratha’s here.
Dinner – Max by 7:00 – it’s mostly 1 cup veg pulav or fish curry n 1 cup rice ( white ) or 1 cup dal khichdi.
9:00pm – I drink a small cup of hot milk with little sugar as I sleep at 11. 30.
** Exercise is a very important part of my life now. I cannot imagine myself without exercising.
I do cheat sometimes but i make sure that is for breakfast or lunch.
If I feel like eating a cake, I eat it in the morning. My whole life has changed.I am so much more happier now. Fitness has no end.Its a way of living a disciplined life.
Hope my weight loss tips helps you too!!
