PROGRESSIVE WRITERS GROUP (PWG) SCORES ANOTHER VICTORY AT THE SCREENWRITERS ASSOCIATION EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE ELECTIONS 2021

The Progressive Writers Group (PWG) once again scored a triumphant win by winning all 31 seats in the Executive Committee of the Screenwriters Association (SWA) in the General Body Elections held on 18th April, 2021. In a significant first, the SWA Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Election were held online owing to the current restrictions because of the COVID pandemic.

Robin Bhatt

While veteran writer Robin Bhatt retained his position as the President of the Executive Committee, Zaman Habib was elected as the new General Secretary for this term. The new executive committee includes writers like Saket Chaudhary, Sanyuktha Chawla Shaikh, Saiwyn Quadras, Anjum Rajabali and Vinod Ranganath, among others, plus lyricists Shellee, Abhiruchi Chand, Puneet Sharma and Hussain Haidry.

Formed in 1960, SWA is a Trade Union of around 33 thousand members, secures and protects the rights of writers and lyricists, while working towards raising the calibre of the screenwriting craft in the film, TV and OTT media industries.
