Fashion & Film Festival Cannes 2016 – By Houte Couture Diva – Verma D’mello

The coronation took place at the 69th Cannes Film Festival and iconic French fiona Gelin, an actress acclaimed for her role in Frankenstein 90 (1984), Amantide-Scirocco (1987) and Parole de flic (1985), took pride in wearing my collection,”

It was lights, camera, action and attire at the Radisson Blu in chic Cannes, France, home to movie stars and directors during its world famous film festival in May, but it was also the catwalk models who drew in cheers and applause.

Rocking to a cool beat, the models paraded the latest stunning collection of D’Mello, who has been showcasing her styles across the world.

The ‘Kadamba Queen’ collection was inspired by the “innate quality” of the women of Goa, D’Mello’s home state in India.

Women adorned in Verma’s Kadamba Queen’s robes became queens, commanding elegance and honour at all times.

In between last-minute touches, D’Mello said she wanted the World Cinema to gain “a glimpse of what the Goan woman is about.”

And the lively audience liked what it saw. Ethereal and light-flowing fabrics with spark lining, powdery shades of golden nuances, shades of joy, friendship, fancy nets, light wright satins, rich brocades and chrome bronze were exquisitely hand-crafted with pearls, jewels and flowers.

“I feel very fortunate and privileged to be a part of Cannes Film Festival 2016, which is a very rare happening to any dreamer in fashion fraternity” Verma said. Now, the organisers feel honoured for her presence there and Verma’s excitement raised now because of the received invitation again to showcase her collection ad sstyled the STARS OF WORLD CINEMA at Cannes Fashion and Film Festival in 2017. It is really a proud moment to see a goan designer’s collection for the second time next year.
